Use it on a classic tomato and mozzarella salad. Combine it with oregano, parsley, and thyme for a great all-purpose blend. Stir basil into in pasta sauce for an additional delicious flavor. Primarily sourced from Egypt, basil is actually a member of the mint family. The flavor of basil is best released crushed in your hand or with a mortar and pestle before adding to food. Store in a cool, dark, dry place for optimal flavor.
